Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Kassai Evolution I Fund?
Kassai Evolution I is a closed-end Special Securities Investment Fund managed by Kassai, SGOIC. It has an expected term of three years and seeks to preserve and enhance invested capital through active and diversified management.
What does the Fund invest in?
The Fund invests in instruments in Angola’s money and capital markets, including equities, Treasury Bonds (USD and Kz), corporate debt, repurchase agreements, bank deposits and commercial paper.
Why not invest directly in equities?
The Fund provides exposure to different investment opportunities through a diversified, professionally managed portfolio, without requiring investors to select assets or monitor the market on a daily basis.
Why does Kassai Evolution I invest in several asset classes?
Different assets perform differently throughout economic cycles. By combining money-market and capital-market instruments, the Fund seeks to diversify its sources of return and build a more balanced portfolio suited to market conditions.
What is the Fund’s objective?
The Fund seeks to preserve and enhance capital through a diversified portfolio adapted to market conditions. Its annual hurdle rate of 18% is used as a performance benchmark and does not constitute a promise of returns.
What is the Fund’s risk profile?
The Fund is intended for investors with an aggressive risk profile who accept the possibility of fluctuations in the value of their investment. It is exposed, among other risks, to market, credit, interest-rate, currency, liquidity, counterparty and operational risks.
Are returns guaranteed?
No. The value of the investment may rise or fall depending on the performance of the assets held in the Fund’s portfolio. Past performance, where applicable, is not a guarantee of future performance.
Can I redeem my money at any time?
No. As this is a closed-end fund, early redemptions are not permitted. Redemption takes place upon the Fund’s maturity or liquidation, under the terms set out in the prospectus.
Can the units be traded on a stock exchange?
Kassai, SGOIC may apply for the units to be admitted to trading on a regulated market. This possibility does not guarantee trading or liquidity, does not change the Fund’s closed-end nature, and does not permit early redemptions.
What is the investment term?
The Fund has an expected term of three years. Before investing, you should ensure that you can maintain your investment for that period.
How much do I need to invest?
The minimum subscription amount is Kz 300,000, corresponding to three units. Each unit has an initial value of Kz 100,000.
Can I increase my investment later?
No. As this is a closed-end fund, subsequent subscriptions are not permitted after the initial subscription.
How do I make money by investing?
Your investment may appreciate through interest, dividends, capital gains and other income generated by the portfolio assets. Changes in the unit value reflect the Fund’s net performance.
Does the Fund distribute income?
The Fund may distribute income from its second year of operation onwards, subject to a decision by the Management Company and provided that financial stability and the ability to execute the strategy are safeguarded. Distributions may amount to up to 50% of the net profit generated in each financial year.
Can the Fund invest in foreign currency?
Yes. The Fund may invest up to 50% of its total net asset value in instruments denominated in foreign currency or indexed to the US dollar. This exposure may contribute to diversification but also involves currency risk.
Where can I monitor the value of my investment?
The unit value is calculated daily on business days and is available on the Kassai Capital website. The Fund’s reports and accounts will also be made available in accordance with applicable legal requirements.
